The summer is approaching and many consumers are planning to travel. Traveling helps relieve stress and it’s a great way to spend time with your friends and family. Many of us can’t afford an expensive vacation because our expenses and debt obligations don’t leave us with a lot of money to splurge. But according to Rick Seaney, there are certain things that you can do to nail the best offer for your travel destination and your budget.

Don’t shop at the last minute. Generally, “airlines start actively managing their cheapest seats about four months before departure.”
Don’t buy too early. “Tickets purchased before this four month period will generally have a higher ticket price.
You may want to buy tickets as early as possible if you are planning to travel during busy holiday times.
Saturday is one of the cheapest days to travel.
Sunday is one of the most expensive days to travel.

The best way to enjoy your vacation time is being debt free. You can plan ahead of time and get rid of your debt before you travel.
