How the FDIC Protects You  E-mail
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was created in 1933 “in response to thousands of bank failures” during the 1920’s and 1930’s. Their mission is to maintain “the stability and public confidence in the nation’s financial system by insuring deposits, examining and supervising financial institutions, and managing receiverships.”

If you have a complaint about a bank supervised by the FDIC, you may follow these simple steps that the FDIC has established as guidelines to filing a written complaint:

• You will need to provide your complete name and mailing address.
• State your complaint regarding your bank and a brief description. You will need to provide your bank’s address.
• Enclose copies of related documentation. This will help support your claim.
• State how you would like your matter resolved and the remedy you seek.
• Date and sign your letter.
• Contact the FDIC for further information.

You can protect yourself by researching all the FDIC supervised banks in your area and choose the one that offers you the best services according to your financial needs.
