Dawn, a supervisor here at U.S. Financial Management speaks about her experience. “For me personally, it was to help my children understand and appreciate what it is I do.  Our human resources director came up with the idea and sent me to a National website where I pulled all of the activities from, as

well as got help with purchasing items and decorating the class room. I was very excited to see how many staff members were so excited to participate in this event. Among those staff participants were even supervisors and executives.”

Dawn continues by explaining the day’s events. “During the activities, the children interacted in small groups and as a class; they were able to go through different scenarios playing the role of the employee as well as the parent. The children gained confidence and respect for the working parents. Their parents were able to show the children how much sacrifice is really given on a day to day basis for the family.  Our morning started with Victor, our recruiter and staff training specialist, whom gave a presentation of what our company does exactly. We then moved right into different activities where the children were able to voice their opinions of what they wanted their family lives to be like when they grew up, what types of jobs they would have, number of hours they would work and how much time they would spend with their families. The children were able to ask the adults different questions:  Why they like their jobs, what they would change about their jobs and so on. The children were journalists and reporters.  At the end of the day each of the children presented art work to their parents showing what kind of home, work and travel life they wanted for their parents and even Thank You cards for being able to participate.  If asked to be program coordinator again I would be honored.”
